Samsung typically has its second Galaxy Unpacked event in the month of August, when it announces flagship devices more premium that its Galaxy S series. Once upon a time, this was when the Note devices would have been announced, but now, we’d mark our calendars on this date for the reveal of the company’s foldable devices instead. This year’s iteration has been rumoured to be a bit ahead of schedule, and is said to happen in late July instead. A new report now claims to know the exact date, which falls on the last week of the month.
Korean news outlet Chosun Ilbo cites a source that claims this year’s edition of the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked will take place on 26 July. This makes it two weeks earlier than two previous iterations of the same event, which the report notes as having happened on 10 August last year, and 11 August in the year before. On a related note, the report also notes that after their official unveiling, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5 will be hitting shelves on 11 August. That being said, it remains to be seen if this applies to all markets around the world.
The daily also claims that this will be the first time that Samsung will be holding its Galaxy Unpacked event in its home market. More specifically, it will be held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Prior years saw the physical editions of the event being held in Barcelona, New York or San Francisco.
As for the phones themselves, both models have seen pretty extensive leaks. While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 looks to be mostly the same as before, the leaks indicate that the Galaxy Z Flip5 will be getting a major upgrade for the outer display. Either way, it would be great to see then being unveiled officially in slightly over two months’ time.
