CelcomDigi has just launched a massive campaign dubbed Jom 5G, which offers several new phone bundles as well as postpaid and prepaid telco plans for customers to be able to connect to the 5G network. The campaign is running from today, 16 May until 31 July 2023, and selected plans come with certain monetary perks.
On Celcom’s side, there is the new Xpax Prepaid Unlimited 40 monthly plan, which offers unlimited data at 3Mbps as well as 10GB of high-speed data. Moreover, those who sign up for the plan in-store will get an additional 5GB of high-speed data.
As for the so-called “unlimited” data, there is a Fair Use Policy (FUP) of 60GB, so there is actually a cap on how much data you can use before it’s reduced to 512Kbps. The Xpax Prepaid Unlimited 40 also offers unlimited calls to all networks, 3GB of hotspot usage, and a free RM5 Touch n’ Go eWallet credit while stocks last.
On the other hand, Digi is upgrading its existing Postpaid 90 plan from a base of 50GB of data to 60GB, along with an additional 40GB add-on for a total of 100GB. However, the condition for the hefty add-on is that you will have to sign a 12-month contract.
The Digi Postpaid 120 plan is also getting a boost, with its base internet quota being increased from 70GB to 105GB, as well as an additional 60GB add-on for contract users for a total cap of 165GB. Additionally, for a limited time, the telco is giving away RM100 in Touch n’ Go eWallet credit for those who sign up for Postpaid 90 and above.
Both Celcom and Digi users currently have free access to 5G, but that’s set to end on 31 May. Afterwards, Digi will charge RM10 per month for all its customers except those who subscribe to Postpaid 90, 120, 150, and Family Unlimited. As for Celcom, it still hasn’t revealed the price for its 5G add-on, but it might potentially also cost RM10 per month.
