It appears that HTC is making a comeback this month and more specifically, on 18 May, with the launch of its flagship, the U23 Pro. Confirmation of the launch was posted by the company itself via its official Twitter account, which showcased a silhouette of the device.
The post itself doesn’t contain any details about the phone and its specifications, save for the earlier-mentioned date. However, and again, initial rumours and leaks about the U23 Pro suggest that the phone will offer a 120Hz AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC, and a 108MP main camera. In addition, it is also expected to launch with Android 13 out of the box, and be powered by a 4,600mAh battery. More importantly, HTC has hinted that the phone would also be compatible with its Viverse VR platform, of which there is also little or next to no concrete details about the platform yet.

The news of HTC launching a new phone, let alone the U23 Pro, is both a little exciting and surprising. As we mentioned, the company’s last proper flagship smartphone – the Exodus doesn’t count, and this writer will fight you tooth and nail to defend this comment – was the U Series that launched back in 2017. For that matter, its choice of chipset for its next flagship is a little dated but frankly speaking the 8 Gen1 has proven itself, back when it debuted last year. Circling back to its main camera for a bit, alleged images of the phone that leaked earlier also show that the phone may adopt a quad-camera configuration. Oh, and the phone may even have a thinner-than-average form factor too.

And that’s all we know about the HTC U23 Pro right now. Hopefully, the company will spill all the details come 18 May. For that matter, we’re sure many fans of the brands are hoping that the launch of this phone will be the long-awaiting revival and, just maybe, renaissance for HTC.
