Rapid KL has announced that the six LRT stations that were suspended last month are now operational again. The Ampang – Sri Petaling LRT line stations, namely the Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul, and Sentul Timur stations, started operating today, 12 May 2023.
According to the public transport operator, this follows the completion of the first phase of the temporary upgrading of overhead structures and rails under repair near the Bandaraya LRT station. Moreover, trains that require maintenance will be brought to the LRT depot in Ampang and replacement trains will be used for the regular services.
Bermula 12 Mei 2023, tren akan beroperasi semula dari LRT Bandaraya ke LRT Sentul Timur.

Those six stations were temporarily shuttered on 2 April due to the trains not meeting operational criteria and had to be taken out of service for safety. It said that the reason for the trains’ poor condition is due to them not being able to be moved to the depot for maintenance since the incident on 27 January that caused the line’s services to be disrupted.
Another update to the repair and upgrading works is that with the first phase completed, the second phase has started and is expected to be completed by mid-October. When this happens, the operators claims that the LRT routes will return to normal operation.
Previously, Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed that the renovation work would take up to seven months to be completed, including two months for temporary repair work to strengthen the structure and five months for comprehensive renovation work. Rapid KL’s parent company, Prasarana, will also be taking legal action over the disruptions, but Loke did not reveal which parties will be made to take responsibility.
With the return of those stations, Rapid KL added that the LRT 11, 13, and 14 bus routes will be discontinued. Morever, it will reactivate the LRT 10 temporary shuttle service connecting the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya LRT stations using 10 buses at an interval of 10 minutes.
