Earlier today, Sony’s annual Xperia announcement pulled back the veil from its next flagship, the Xperia 1 V. At the end of the presentation, though, the Japanese smartphone brand surprised viewers with the announcement of another phone, the Xperia 10 V.
Surprising as it was, Sony’s presentation of the Xperia 10 V was distinctly lacking any major information, including the specification for both internal and external hardware. That being said, the brand’s local representative managed to pass on some of the phone’s details. Firstly, the Japanese electronics conglomerate is equipping it with a 5000mAh, just as it did with the model’s predecessor. Second, its main triple-camera module, comprises a 48MP 26mm wide, an 8MP 16mm ultrawide, and an 8MP 54mm telephoto, although the brand did not specify the individual pixel count for each sensor.
The brief product showcase also shows that the Xperia 10 V will be available in four colourways, though we’ll only be getting the Black and Lavender options. The display is a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED TRILUMINOS display with a 60Hz refresh rate, complete with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Another feature to note is that the phone still retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, making it one of the only mid-range phones that still flaunts the physical medium.
Underneath the hood, the Xperia 10 V is rocking the same Snapdragon 695 5G SoC as its predecessor, but this time around, the phone comes with 8GB RAM instead of 6GB, while the internal storage capacity remains the same at 128GB but at the very least, you can expand it up to 1TB via the microSDXC slot. Other physical features that appear to be making a comeback with the Xperia 10 V are the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, but no dedicated shutter button like the more premium Xperia 1 and 5 series smartphones.
The Sony Xperia 10 V will be available starting early August 2023, and will retail at RM2199.
