Not long ago, Huawei announced its latest foldable smartphone, the Mate X3, for the Chinese market. Now, the brand is officially making the device available for purchase in Malaysia along with its newest flagship, the Huawei P60 Pro.
The Huawei Mate X3 has a 7.85-inch inner display and a 6.4-inch outer display. Both screens use an OLED panel with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, but only the exterior display uses LTPO technology. For protection, the screen is fitted with Kunlun Glass while the phone is rated at IPX8 for dust and water resistance.
Internally, it runs on the same chipset as the P60 Pro, which is the 4G version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. It comes in a single configuration with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Moreover, it does have external memory support up to an additional 256GB, but you can only use Huawei’s proprietary “NM” memory card.
The thin foldable features a triple-camera setup on the back comprised of a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens. For selfies, both the inner and outer displays of the Huawei Mate X3 are equipped with 8MP cameras.
On to the 4,800mAh battery, it is a bit smaller than the standard capacity for smartphones these days but it is still more than what we usually get in most foldables. The phone supports 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. As for connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
The Huawei Mate X3 comes with a hefty price tag of RM8,888 for 12GB+512GB, available in dark green vegan leather and black. It can be purchased at Huawei Experience Stores, authorised Huawei Partner Stores such as SenHeng, senQ, Harvey Norman, and Urban Republic, Huawei’s official website, its Lazada store, and its Shopee store.
