Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Main Camera May Receive A Long Awaited Upgrade

It could get a 50MP main sensor similar to the one used with the Galaxy S23.

While the Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition (FE) is rumoured to launch sometime during the fourth quarter of this year, there has been little or next to no new information about the phone’s alleged specifications. That is, up until thye site Galaxy Club posted a rumour about the Galaxy S23 FE and its main camera.

According to the Dutch news site, the Galaxy S23 FE may be getting a much needed main camera upgrade, compared to the Galaxy S21 FE, which was the last FE device Samsung launched back at the start of 2022. Between then and now, Samsung never released an S22 FE, deciding instead to hold off for the S23 FE instead. According the site’s “reliable source”, the phone will reportedly receive a 50MP main camera sensor, similar to one currently employed in the standard, non-FE S23.

Again, this is a massive upgrade for the Galaxy S23 FE, given that the S21 FE’s main wide sensor was only 12MP, flanked by another 12MP for ultrawide shots and an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. On that note, we really are hoping that the 50MP is identical to the one used in the Galaxy S23, as it has proven itself to be a very, very serviceable shooter.

Again, beyond that little nugget, there is no additional detail about the Galaxy S23 FE. Of course, previous reports have suggested that the phone could be fitted with Samsung’s Exynos 2200, a chipset used in the European versions of the Galaxy S22 lineup, and one that has been proven to be problematic and not as efficient or powerful as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen1. For that matter, we also still do not know what the other two camera sensors of the Galaxy S23 FE are going to be.

Whatever the case, what does feel like confirmation is that Samsung may retain certain configurations for the Galaxy S23 FE, including a standard 8GB RAM, as much as 256GB of internal storage, and probably the same 4500W battery with support for 25W fast-charging too.
