Celcom and Digi users are now able to utilize 5G connectivity without additional charges until 31 May 2023. Prior to this, both telcos which have since merged into a single corporate entity called CelcomDigi said that the free access would expire on 30 April.
While Celcom and Digi did not provide a detailed explanation in regards to the decision, they have noted in their joint announcement today that this move goes hand in hand with their aspiration to push for 5G adoption in the country. This extension applies to all postpaid and prepaid plans that are eligible for 5G access.
Specifically, here is the list of Digi plans that support 5G at the moment:

- Digi Postpaid 60 2021
- Digi Postpaid 60 DS 2021
- Digi Postpaid 70 2022
- Digi Postpaid 80 2022
- Digi Postpaid 90 2021
- Digi Postpaid 90 DS 2021
- Digi Postpaid 120 2021
- Digi Postpaid 120 DS 2021
- Digi Postpaid 150 2021
- Digi Postpaid 150 DS 2021
- Digi Postpaid 200 2022
- Digi Postpaid Family 45 Unlimited
- Digi Postpaid Family 20 2021
- Digi Postpaid Family 30 2021
- Digi Postpaid Family 45 2021
- Digi Postpaid Family 45 DS 2021
- Digi Prepaid NEXT 20

To enable 5G access for these Digi plans, one can obtain the 5G Booster pass under the Buy Add-Ons section inside the MyDigi mobile app. As for Celcom, the list of eligible plans is slightly shorter though:

- Xpax Mix & Match™ primary plans with high-speed 30/40GB Internet
For these Celcom postpaid and Xpax prepaid plans, the 5G access is activated automatically and customers would receive a SMS from the telco once it has been made available for their account. Alternatively, they can also reach out to Celcom’s Customer Service hotline and Facebook page or walk into any Bluecube branch to request 5G access.
In terms of what is going to happen after the promo period is over at the end of this May, Digi said that the 5G Booster carries a price tag of RM10 per month although the fee will be waived for Postpaid 90, 120, 150, and Family Unlimited. On the other hand, Celcom is still keeping the price of the 5G add-on pass a secret although there have been signs that it may cost RM10 per month as well.
