Leaked images from earlier in the month already gave us a glimpse of what drone brand DJI is adding to its Mavic 3 lineup. Called the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, the new drone sports a similar look to its cousins within the lineup, with the one key difference being the triple camera setup in front. Now, the company has unveiled the drone proper, showing us more about the drone.
Starting with the cameras of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, the company is providing the new drone the familiar Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS sensor for the primary 24mm camera that the other models in the series are equipped with. With that in mind, we’re looking at similar performance figures as the other models, such as 5.1K 50fps and 4K 120fps video recording. The second camera has also been bumped up a little, now with a 166mm equivalent lens capable of taking 12MP stills and 4K 60fps video. The hybrid zoom of 28x also makes a return, with optical zoom now rated at 7x.
As for the third camera, the company says this is a 70mm format equivalent telephoto camera, comes with 3x optical zoom, as well as the ability to take 48MP stills and 4K 60fps videos. So it is sort of a middle ground between the two existing cameras.
Other features making a return are the 15km operating range, 1080p 60fps live feed and Advanced RTH. But new to the pro model includes Cruise Control which, similar to the automotive version, lets the drone fly in one direction without needing constant control stick input. There’s also Waypoint Flight for when you need the DJI Mavic 3 Pro to fly specific paths without your input.
DJI is launching the Mavic 3 Pro in four distinct bundles, most of which are similar to the bundles launched with the base model. The base bundle comes with the drone, the remote controller, a charger, a cable, some spare propellers, and a familiar price of RM9799. Then there’s the Fly More Combo which comes with two extra batteries, a charging hub, four ND filters, an additional cable and a carrying bag, in addition to the drone and the controller, for a price of RM12399. If you want the remote controller to be upgraded to the RC Pro controller, then this will bump the price up to RM14999.
And finally, there’s the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine Premium Combo, which is essentially the Fly More Combo with the RC Pro controller, with the drone itself being upgraded to the Cine model, sporting the familiar built-in 1TB SSD. This bumps the price up to RM21999. These are available for pre-order at the official DJI stores on Shopee and Lazada, until 8 May 2023.
