Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that several major telcos are offering prepaid users bonus data quotas as well as rebates in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya festive season. The initiative was coordinated by the ministry through the MCMC with the cooperation of Maxis, CelcomDigi, Unifi, U Mobile, and Yes.
Maxis is offering a whopping bonus of 100GB on top of the existing data quota of its HotlinkMU passes, available until 15 May. The pass starts at RM3 for 3GB and two-day validity or 2.5GB with three-day validity. There are also passes with validity for five, seven, and 30 days, topping out at RM28 for 30GB in addition to the 100GB.
Until 15 May, Celcom and Digi are offering both postpaid and prepaid users a three-day pass at the price of RM5 for an extra 555GB of data with no speed cap. However, a big caveat to this pass is that the large limit can only be used to stream videos on certain apps; YouTube, Netflix, Viu, iflix, iQIYI, and Astro GO for Celcom users and Netflix, YouTube, Viu, dan Dailymotion for Digi users.
Unifi Mobile has two offers for prepaid users that will be available until 5 May. The first is a RM5 cashback for the RM35 Monthly Unlimited Pass, which will be credited to your account after purchasing the pass and has no expiry date. There is also a RM35 monthly pass that offers unlimited data, unlimited calls, and 5GB hotspot.
U Mobile is adding an extra 10GB of data with their Pakej Perpaduan plan until 31 May, but oddly enough, this has not been reflected on their website yet. As for Yes, it is offering 44GB bonus data that is valid for seven days, with the promo being valid until 15 May.
The Comms Minister added that all these offers are subject to the respective terms and conditions of each telco and advised customers to refer to the respective telco for further details.
