Acer today has expanded its Swift thin and light laptop series in Malaysia by launching the 2023 Swift 14 which was first revealed back at CES earlier this year. The genesis of the new model can actually be traced back to the 2022 Swift 5 that was launched in our market last August.
In fact, the new model is rather identical to last year’s model even though it has a different name. This is because Acer has decided to revamp the naming scheme for its Swift series from 2023 onwards.
Instead of the older numerical-based classification such as Swift 1, Swift 3, Swift 5, and Swift 7, the company is using screen size as the identifier for the Swift series. So, the Swift 14’s name came from the fact that it comes with a 14-inch display.
Just like its 2022 counterpart, the 2023 Swift 14 still features the 14.95mm aerospace-grade aluminium unibody chassis while still maintaining its 1.2kg physical weight. Acer has also retained the Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass from last year’s Swift 5 for the new model while the native resolution for the IPS touch screen on the Malaysian variant of the Swift 14 has now been standardized at WQXGA (2560 x 1600).
Acer has also carried over the TwinAir cooling solution alongside Temporal Noise Reduction and PurifiedVoice with AI Noise Reduction technologies from the 2022 model to the Swift 14. That being said, the 2023 model was fitted with a higher-resolution 1440p HD camera though.
The biggest factor that really differentiates the 2023 Swift 14 and 2022 Swift 5 is the fact that the new model is powered by the newer 13th Gen Intel Core H-Series processor. In addition to that, the Swift 14 apparently has a much longer battery life as well with the ability to last up to 14 hours.
In Malaysia, the 2023 Swift 14 is available in three different variations including the sole Mist Green option which comes with Intel Core i5-13500H, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 512GB PCIe NVMe Gen4 solid state drive and a price tag of RM4,299. There is also another variation that is still powered by the Core i5-13500H alongside 512GB SSD but is draped in Steam Blue with 16GB RAM and an RM4,299 price tag.
Meanwhile, the top-of-the-range option which is priced at RM5,399 still comes in Steam Blue colourway with 16GB RAM but has more storage space through its 1TB SSD. The new Swift 14 which is also an Intel Evo-certified model will be made available through Acer Malaysia eStore as well as Acer’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada by the end of this month.
