Razer launched its first-ever stream deck, creatively named as the Stream Controller, back in July of last year. Like other devices in the same category, it is intended to give streamers and broadcasters alike easy access to numerous functionalities through a single platform. Now, the gaming firm is back with another entry to its stream deck family that’s more compact and also easier on the wallet with the all-new Stream Controller X.
Like most of its releases, Razer has the tendency to introduce multiple variants of a single product. The “X” editions, in particular, are intended to be stripped down versions of an existing device, but at the same time retaining most of its key selling points. The Stream Controller X is no exception to this, as seen from its much smaller and simplified design.
According to Razer, its latest stream deck measures in at only 111 x 80.7 x 30 mm, and features only the face buttons which can be customised to feature relevant icons that correspond to the functions assigned to them. Unlike its sibling, the buttons come in a 5 x 3 arrangement, totalling to 15 shortcuts available to the streamer. However, gone are the various dials on the sides and the numbered buttons below the primary interface.
It also utilises a detachable 50-degree anti-slip magnetic stand, which provides the user with a comfortable viewing angle whilst keeping it stationary during long gaming or streaming sessions. Connectivity-wise, the device lacks any wireless support and uses a wired USB-A to USB-C connection instead. A compatible cable is included in the packaging, just in case you’re wondering.
As with the original, the new Stream Controller X is powered by Loupedeck Software, which ensures play-and-play compatibility across all major streaming platforms such as OBS Studio, Twitch, Streamlabs, Adobe Premier Pro and so on. Similarly, users can effortlessly install popular applications, plugins and even emotes via the Loupedeck UI, as well as create matching themes or moving GIF icons for each programmable LCD-based face button for deeper personalisation.
The Razer Stream Controller X is available now in Malaysia for RM 729, which is over RM 500 less than its larger sibling. Those interested may purchase it via Razer’s website (link below), official RazerStore locations, and authorised retailers nationwide.
