In response to the Pakej Perpaduan initiative for fixed broadband, Time has announced its own take on the initiative called Pakej MyKabel. Revealed to the public back in early February, the package provides 100Mbps service at RM69 per month but as it turns out, Pakej MyKabel also offers discounts on the monthly fees for the faster 500Mbps and 1Gbps plans.
This was not mentioned in the original announcement but was noted in Pakej MyKabel’s FAQ document on Time’s website. That being said, the discounts were not as high as what Time has provided for the 100Mbps plan though.
Specifically, Pakej MyKabel offers a discount of RM20 per month for both plans as opposed to the monthly discount of RM30 for the 100Mbps plan. Nevertheless, this means that eligible customers are able to obtain Time’s 500Mbps plan for RM119 per month under the Pakej MyKabel initiative instead of RM139.
For the 1Gbps plan, the monthly fee is reduced from RM199 to RM179. Despite the discount, customers that signed up for Pakej MyKabel will still be able to experience symmetrical download and upload speeds while they will also be provided with a router just like standard Time Fibre Home plans.
Time’s Pakej MyKabel can only be obtained at selected Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) locations that are currently being served by the ISP. Here is the location list, as noted by the original announcement back in February:
- PPR Kampung Baru HICOM, Selangor
- PPR Kota Damansara, Selangor
- PPR Lembah Subang, Selangor
- PPR Taman Putra Damai, Selangor (Lembah Subang 1)
- PPR Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur
- PPR UDA Utama, Johor
- PPR Taman Perling, Johor (Jalan Rawa 1)
- PPR Taman Perling, Johor (Jalan Rawa 7)
Do note that there is a 24-month contract attached to this highly-targeted fibre plan. According to the FAQ document, residents at these selected PPR locations can sign up for the fibre plan through Time’s website or approach its sales personnel (the company nicknamed them Sales Ninjas) when they visit the respective PPRs to promote Pakej MyKabel.
