vivo is set to unveil the upcoming X Fold2 quite soon and along with it, rumours also suggest that we’ll see the brand’s first clamshell foldable, the X Flip. The device has been rumoured since last year and there have been numerous leaks surrounding its specs, leading to speculations that it will be debuting soon.
The latest leak comes from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, where an image purportedly shows the X Flip in its folded form. If the image is to be believed, it seems that the vivo clamshell will be equipped with a Zeiss lens on its cameras as the phone seems to carry the brand’s logo.
Furthermore, the phone looks to be sporting a large horizontal external display when folded, which could potentially increase its usability. While you can’t really see how many lenses there are in the large circular bump, it’s speculated that it will have two cameras.
Its design seems to feature a diamond pattern in a purple colour option and it’s still unclear whether or not it will fold flat or have a slight gap. Earlier leaks have claimed that the X Flip will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and be paired with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
For the cameras, Digital Chat Station alleged that it will carry a 50MP Sony IMX866 main sensor and a 12MP IMX663 ultra-wide lens. Additionally, the foldable will apparently sport a 6.8-inch 1080p internal display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
It’s said that the vivo X Flip will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery with 44W charging. While there is no official news about the launch of the clamshell phone yet, vivo confirmed that the X Fold2 will be unveiled in April during the 2023 Boao Forum.
