Garmin Malaysia today has announced that its new Forerunner 265 smartwatch is now available locally, while the high-end Forerunner 965 model is slated to arrive by late April. As we’ve reported previously, both wearables are the first from the brand to feature AMOLED touch screens, and were initially launched for the global market earlier this month.
To recap, the entry-level Garmin Forerunner 265 is offered in 42 mm and 46 mm sizes. Both variants come equipped with the brand’s Firstbeat Analytics performance monitoring tools such as V02 max, performance condition, and training effect. In addition, they also come with health and fitness features including Pulse Ox and Body Battery, as well as sensors for tracking sleep, stress, women’s health, and more.
Besides that, there are plenty of connected features on the duo as well, such as smart notifications, on-device music storage for Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music, LiveTrack tool for incident detection and assistance, and Garmin Pay support for contactless payments. Also onboard are satellite-based positioning support including SatIQ technology and multi-band GPS.
Next up, we have the Garmin Forerunner 965 model, which is only offered in a single 47 mm size and comes with a lightweight titanium bezel. Naturally, its size warrants for a larger AMOLED display – coming at 1.4 inches, to be exact.
Features-wise, this model has all of the same sensors, tools, and connected functionalities as the Forerunner 265, though unique to it is a new load ratio feature to track short-term to mid-term fatigue loading, as well as built-in map support, and the climber-centric ClimbPro tracking tool. It’s also worth noting that, unlike its entry-level sibling, the watch comes with more storage space for music downloads.
In terms of battery life, the 42 mm Garmin Forerunner 265 is claimed to last up to 15 days in smartwatch mode and 24 hours in GPS mode, while the 46 mm variant can last up to 13 days and 20 hours respectively. Meanwhile, the Forerunner 965 is touted to last up to 23 days and up to 31 hours respectively.
As mentioned earlier, the Forerunner 265 series are available now, and are both priced at RM 2,220. Those interested may purchase the 42 mm and 46 mm variants via Garmin’s official stores on Shopee [1] [2], Lazada [1] [2] and AECO e-store [1] [2], as well as its physical stores and authorised retailers nationwide. The high-end Forerunner 965, on the other hand, will be sold at a suggested retail price of RM 2,970 once it arrives in Malaysia by late April.
