Last week, OPPO unveiled its newest tablet, the OPPO Pad 2, the follow-up to last year’s Pad that comes with some significant upgrades over its predecessor. While the brand has not officially announced a Malaysian launch yet, it will most likely debut locally.
This comes from the fact that tipster Kevin Ng TK has spotted the new tablet in the SIRIM database, receiving certification from the local regulator just yesterday. Listed with the model name OPD2202, the sighting means that the product is set to be introduced to the market here soon.
The OPPO Pad 2 has fairly identical specs to the OnePlus Pad, which is due to launch next month, as well as the same design, albeit in a different colour. It sports an 11.61-inch 2800×2000 LCD display with a refresh rate of 144Hz, a peak brightness of 500 nits, and a tall 7:5 aspect ratio.
Inside, the Pad 2 is running on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, replacing last year’s Qualcomm chipset, and it is paired with between 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and can be configured with up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. For cameras, it features a 13MP sensor on the back while the front packs an 8MP snapper.
Powering the tablet is a 9,510mAh battery, much larger than its predecessor’s, and is equipped with fast 67W charging. Additionally, it comes with four speakers with support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, but it does not have an audio jack, a microSD slot for storage expansion, or a fingerprint scanner.
The OPPO Pad 2 is priced at CNY2,999 (~RM1,940) for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the top-tier version with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs CNY3,999 (~RM2,588). Of course, the local pricing has not been revealed yet but with the SIRIM listing, we can expect an announcement from the company in the near future.
