realme C55 Officially Lands In Malaysia; Starts From RM699

It offers a Dynamic Island-like feature at a more affordable price.

The realme C55, the brand’s newest affordable smartphone, has officially made its way into the Malaysian market. It was unveiled earlier this month in Indonesia, becoming the first Android device to offer its own version of Apple’s Dynamic Island called the Mini Capsule, although it doesn’t have as many functionalities.

For the screen, the phone sports a 6.72-inch 1080p display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 680 nits. It has a punch-hole cutout for the front camera and, of course, it has the Mini Capsule on the software level that gives you useful information at the top of the screen.

Under the hood, it has modest specs with a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with an additional 8GB of virtual RAM that you can enable that uses available memory. Furthermore, the dual SIM card slot features an additional microSD card slot for up to 1TB of storage expansion.

As for the camera setup, the realme C55 carries a 64MP primary sensor on the back while the front of the phone houses an 8MP selfie snapper. On the connectivity side, it supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack, but with it being a budget phone, it’s no surprise that it does not support 5G.

Powering the Mini Capsule-equipped smartphone is a large 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W charging. The device ships with realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13 and is available in either Sunshower or Rainy Night.

If you need more, there is also a variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage carrying a price tag of RM799. For those who pre-order the phone from 28 to 30 March, you can also get a free pair of realme Buds 2 Neo.
