In recent years, Samsung’s assistant feature has received many updates to improve the quality of life for its users. But the release of the new Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G comes with a new system that can now automate mundane tasks without the need to interact with your phone.
Now, you can personalise what your phone should do, at what times, and where, with the goal to alleviate the need to do mundane tasks that you may simply have forgotten. Samsung calls this handy function Modes and Routines, so keep reading if you want to know how this recently overhauled innovative system can greatly benefit your daily life.
What Are Modes And Routines?
Modes and Routines is an automation feature that comes pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy devices and can help you get things done quickly and efficiently. With machine intelligence, Modes and Routines gather information and learn how you use your phone to better suit your lifestyle. This information is then used to automatically adjust settings, control apps, and optimise the battery for you.
You can set Modes and Routines to play your favourite music and enable Do Not Disturb mode while you’re driving. You can also create your own routines based on your daily activities, such as going to work or meeting up with friends.
The system comes with a number of ready-to-use features, but you may also manually create routines that work for your particular setup. These can automatically take action based on where you are and what you’re doing.
What are Modes?
After completing a few short questions, the Modes function allows you to quickly start using the pre-set routines including Driving, Exercise, and Relax. You can choose a mode based on what you’re doing, and your phone’s settings will change to match the activity or situation. Additionally, this function can be turned on with a push of a button or triggered by other actions.
The Modes function can help many people focus, like how the Exercise Mode allows you to choose what music to play and from which app without the extra steps; just tap and you’re done. In addition, you can also create custom modes for niche situations that do not match those included in the default modes.

What are Routines?
Routines are similar to Modes, but are more suitable if you want changes to be automatic, streamlining your workflow and increasing your productivity. Routines work on an “If/Then” basis: if certain conditions are met, such as the time or your location, then certain things will happen, such as starting apps and changing settings.
For example, a call went through and disrupted a very important meeting. Routines can automatically put the device on silent once you’ve entered your workplace. You can then set your phone to deactivate silent mode once you leave the area or when your shift has ended.
Routine can be fully customised to suit your needs in every way, shape, and form. It can activate depending on certain actions, location, and even time of day. Additionally, Routines can be saved to the home screen as a widget, saving you the hassle of rummaging through your settings.
How To Use Modes and Routines
To begin configuring Modes, first go to “Settings > Modes and Routines > Modes.” From there, you can personalise the preset modes by answering a few questions so they better suit your needs. To add a new mode, simply scroll down to the bottom of the Modes tab in Settings and tap “Add Mode > Custom.”
To add Routines, go to Modes and Routines, then select the Routines tab. First, select the “If” condition that will trigger the routine. Afterwards, set the “Then” condition that will tell your device what it should do once the “If” condition is met.
You have the option to have these routines start automatically based on the conditions you set, such as time, location, and other factors, or they can be activated manually by a special widget that you can personalise with a name and an icon.
Simplify your everyday life with Modes and Routines, and never worry about the little things again.
