Setel has quietly expanded its street parking feature to several municipalities across multiple states, letting users use the app to pay for parking more widely. The expansion now includes most of the state of Selangor, as well as an addition in Kelantan and even Terengganu.
The Setel Parking feature was first launched last year with limited supported areas that only included the municipal councils of Subang Jaya, Kuala Langat, and Teluk Intan, Perak. Then, it was reported in October by Soyacincau that the platform added three additional councils, namely Petaling Jaya, Klang, and Machang, Kelantan.
While there was no official announcement, a check on the Setel app shows that the feature is now supported in most councils in Selangor, including Shah Alam, Ampang Jaya, Klang, Kuala Selangor, Selayang, and Sepang. The only areas in the state that still do not have support for the feature are Hulu Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
Additionally, the feature is now supported in Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu, bringing the app’s presence to a total of 14 municipalities and districts across four states. The app also lists Seremban, Negeri Sembilan as “coming soon”, but it does not state an actual launch date.
To pay for using Setel, just open up the app, go to “Parking”, and tap on street parking. You then go into “Park Now”, which will automatically show you any supported parking areas near your current location.
You can also manually input the area by tapping on “Check Parking Location”, which will bring you to a list of supported councils. It will show you the rates of each council as well as notify you if there is free parking available at that time.
From there, you enter your vehicle’s plate number and how many hours you would like to pay for. The only payment methods available for Setel Parking are Setel Wallet and debit/credit card.
