It appears that Austrian online retailer MediaMarkt has jumped the gun and listed the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G up on its online storefront ahead of their supposed upcoming launch on 15 March 2023. As you may recall, both phones have yet to be officially announced by the South Korean tech giant, but have already seen numerous leaks prior to this. Their respective listings on the aforementioned e-commerce site, on the other hand, allegedly provides all of the official specifications and renders of both devices.
For starters, the Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G match their respective depictions by leakster Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks), whereby both devices are shown to sport a similar design language as Samsung’s current flagship series, the Galaxy S23. The most obvious difference being that the two upcoming phones feature curvier edges, while the Galaxy A34 comes with a water-drop notch instead of a punch-hole cutout for its front-facing camera.
Starting with the Galaxy A54 5G, MediaMarkt reveals that the phone has a flat 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 120 Hz refresh rate. It is also listed to feature an on-screen fingerprint sensor, IP67 water and dust resistance, dual SIM plus microSD card support, Android 13, as well as Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity. The phone is offered in four colours: Awesome Violet, Awesome Lime, Awesome Graphite and Awesome Silver.
On the inside, the Galaxy A54 5G is equipped with a Samsung Exynos 1380 octa-core chipset, which is paired together with 8 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB storage and supports up to 1 TB external storage via microSD. Its battery is listed to have a capacity of 5,000 mAh, which comes with 25 W fast charging via USB-C. Meanwhile, its rear triple camera setup consists of 50 MP + 12 MP + 5 MP sensors, while its front-facing camera uses a 32 MP sensor.
Next up is the Galaxy A34 5G, which is listed to come with a larger 6.6-inch flat Super AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and, surprisingly, 120 Hz refresh rate. Like its slightly fancier sibling, the e-commerce site notes that the phone comes with on-screen fingerprint sensor, IP67 water and dust resistance, dual SIM plus microSD card support, a USB-C port, Android 13, as well as Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity. Similarly, it is offered with the same four colour options as well.
Under the Galaxy A34 5G’s hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 octa-core chipset, which is paired together with 8 GB RAM, up to 256 GB storage, and supports up to 1 TB of external storage via microSD. Powering the phone is the same battery capacity and charging rate support as the Galaxy A54 5G. Lastly, its rear triple cameras consist of 48 MP + 8 MP + 5 MP sensors, while housed within the water-drop notch on its display is a 13 MP selfie camera.
On MediaMarkt’s website, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is listed to retail for EUR 500 (~RM 2,398) for the 128 GB configuration and EUR 550 (~RM 2,638) for the 256 GB, whereas the Galaxy A34 5G is offered at EUR 390 (~RM 1,871) for the 128 GB trim and EUR 460 (~RM 2,206) for the 256 GB. The availability and pricing for the local market has yet to be confirmed by the company, though we’ve discovered that support pages for both products are now live on Samsung Malaysia’s website. However, they’re pretty much placeholders for now, as neither pages contain any details or content.
