HONOR will be launching the Magic5 Series in Malaysia next month according to the CEO of HONOR Malaysia, Justin Li. In a note sent to media earlier today, he has also confirmed that the Magic Vs foldable phone will be making its debut in our market at the same time as well.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Magic5 Series can be obtained in Pro and non-Pro flavours. The Magic5 Pro has also been equipped with a 6.81-inch OLED LTPO display that has a resolution of 2848 x 1312, 120Hz Smart Refresh Rate capability, 2160Hz PWM dimming rate, and curved edges.
The phone also features a tri-camera system on its back that consists of a 50MP f/1.6 primary camera, 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera, and 50MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto camera which features 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom capabilities. On the top left corner of its screen, there is also a 12MP selfie camera and 3D depth sensor.
On the other hand, the standard version of the Magic5 has a 6.73-inch OLED LTPO display with a resolution of 2688 x 1224. Despite having a slightly smaller screen, the display still has plenty of characteristics that came from the Pro model such as a 120Hz Smart Refresh Rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming rate, and curved edges.
The non-Pro version of the Magic5 also has a tri-camera system on its back albeit with a slightly different setup such as a 54MP f/1.9 primary camera and 32MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom capabilities. The phone still has the same 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera and this also holds true for the 12MP selfie camera which is not accompanied by a 3D depth sensor though.
Both the Pro and non-Pro models under the Magic5 Series are running on a 5100mAh battery that supports a 66W HONOR SuperCharge charger. Unfortunately, they don’t support wireless charging though.
As for the Magic Vs foldable, it is powered by the slightly older Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. When unfolded, users are able to utilize its 7.9-inch 90Hz OLED display that has a screen resolution of 2272 x 1984 while there is also the secondary 6.45-inch 120Hz OLED cover screen with 2560 x 1080 resolution.
Like its bar phone cousins, there is also a tri-camera module on the back of Magic Vs which features a 54MP f/1.9 primary camera, 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide/macro camera, and 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera that has a 3x optical zoom capability. The foldable was also equipped with a 16MP f/2.45 selfie camera and 5000mAh battery alongside the support for a 66W HONOR SuperCharge charger.
All three devices have just been launched to the global market during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona a few weeks ago. The company’s intention to launch them in our market has been previously confirmed but nevertheless, Justin took the opportunity to highlight in today’s press note that Malaysia will become the first market to receive the Magic5 Pro, Magic5, and Magic Vs outside of China.
However, the executive stopped short of revealing the exact launch date of these new Magic devices in our market. Instead, the press note listed the launch date as “early” April which means there are still a few more weeks to go before we are able to know more details about their arrival here.
