More than one million units have been sold since Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch was released into the market last March. That did not come as a big surprise to us given that its debut in Malaysia caused pandemonium at Pavilion KL but if you have been waiting to get your hands on the watch, you now have to pay a higher price for it.
The MoonSwatch was essentially a remake of the famed Omega Speedmaster chronograph using a composite material called Bioceramic. Comes with a Velcro strap, the watch is available in 11 different colours with each of them corresponding to the planetary bodies within our Solar System.
When it was released into the market towards the tail end of last March, the MoonSwatch carried a price tag of RM1,065. Fast forward to almost a year later, the price of the watch has since been updated to RM1,140 which is an increase of RM75 or around 7%.
While we have no knowledge when exactly Swatch has increased MoonSwatch’s price tag in Malaysia, we first noticed the new price by accident on Swatch Malaysia’s website earlier today. We then made a quick visit to the Swatch Store in Mid Valley Megamall to check if the new price also applies at physical retail store and as you can see in the image below, the answer is definitely yes:
On a related note, Swatch Malaysia has since made the MoonSwatch available in more locations as well. In our previous report last April, the watch can also be obtained at Swatch Stores in Pavilion KL and Fahrenheit 88 together with Mid Valley Megamall KL branch as per what you can see above.
Now, the Omega x Swatch collaborative release is also available at the Swatch Store IOI City Mall in Putrajaya. The company has also expanded the watch availability to East Malaysia via the Swatch Store in Suria Sabah Shopping Mall at Kota Kinabalu but as per what we noted before, you may want to give a call to the store first to check the watch’s in-store status before making your visit.
