Those excited for the upcoming remake of Capcom’s fourth chronological entry to its Resident Evil series will be delighted to know that a demo is now available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4 / 5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC (via Steam). Titled as the “Chainsaw Demo”, this bite-sized playable portion of the opening sequence of the game – giving you a short but sweet taste of what’s to come from the upcoming full version.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is the latest entry to Capcom’s list of massively upgraded versions of its classic survival horror franchise. Though initially started in 2002 with a remake of the first title for the Nintendo GameCube, the continuous wave of reworks only began after the release of the Resident Evil 2 Remake in 2019. The latter replaced the original graphics with newer 3D models for both the characters and environments, as well as transitioning its classic gameplay format into the current third-person playstyle of the newer titles (Resident Evil 7 and Village notwithstanding). Thanks to the success of the second game’s remake, Capcom continued the momentum by releasing a modernised version of Resident Evil 3 in 2020.

Which now brings us with the complete overhaul of the fourth title that’s due to be released later this month. Much like the prior two reworks, the Resident Evil 4 Remake will feature upgraded graphics and gameplay, as well as reimagined designs and set pieces that are not offered by the original. Of course, you can experience all of these changes first hand with the newly released demo, which you can play through as much as you want as there’s no time restriction.
For the Steam version, the Chainsaw Demo comes in at 10.31 GB, so downloading may take a while depending on your internet connection. And while we’re talking about PC specifications, Capcom recommends that you have at least an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5-7500 processor, 8 GB of RAM, either an AMD Radeon RX 560 with 4 GB VRAM or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB VRAM GPU, DirectX 12, and 64-bit Windows 10 operating platform.
Resident Evil 4 Remake will be released on all of the aforementioned gaming platforms on 24 March 2023, with pre-orders now available. On Steam and the official PlayStation store, the game is priced at RM 244 for the standard edition, and RM 285 for the Deluxe Edition. The latter of which comes with an extra DLC pack that comes with additional cosmetic items, weapons, and more.
