Leica has introduced yet another James Bond-themed camera, this time with the D-Lux 7 007 Edition. This version features designs and exclusive accessories that match the overall theme. Of course, Leica branding notwithstanding, expect this limited edition set to cost you an even prettier penny if you wish to obtain it.
So, what’s new with this version? Starting off, the Leica D-Lux 7 007 Edition is offered in a new gunmetal colour, along with diamond patterned texture surrounding a majority of its body. Situated on the camera’s top plate is an engraving of the 007 logo, while the edition number is etched on the hot shoe.
Meanwhile, included together with it is a hand grip attachment that sports the same pattern as the device, and an automatic lens cap with the film series’ signature “gun barrel” graphic. The set does not come with a matching suitcase accessory like the Leica Q2 007 Edition that was released back in 2021. However, it does include a cool shoulder holster that’s designed exclusively for this particular version of the D-Lux 7.
As for the camera itself, its internal hardware and features are no different from the original five-year-old model. More specifically, it features the same 17MP four-thirds sensor and integrated Vario-Summilux 24-75 mm f/1.7-2.8 optically stabilised lens, while on its back is a 1.24MP rear touch display and an integrated high resolution EVF (electronic viewfinder). Other features include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as compatibility with the brand’s FOTOS mobile app.
Leica says there’s only 1,962 units of the D-Lux 7 007 Edition available, with the amount chosen reflecting the year when the first film was released. However, the same can’t be said for its pricing, which is set at RM 9,585 for the Malaysian market – making it the most expensive variant of the camera yet. The limited edition camera is available now via the official Leica online store, as well as its physical store at Avenue K, KL.
