Though many have done it before, none have ever achieved it like OPPO. With the brand’s latest Find N2 Flip model, prepare to experience foldable smartphones like never before! This is especially true with its clamshell-like form factor, which has been making an epic comeback for quite a while now as more and more brands pitch in with their creation.
And, though the nostalgic return to form has won a lot of people’s hearts, other models have been struggling with the same old problem despite the various models and iterations: a very apparent crease on their displays. Fortunately, OPPO has essentially solved this problem and then some for its foldable devices. Through extensive research and development, they have perfected the hinge, and it’s game changing.
What Makes OPPO Find N2 Flip Different?
The reason why foldable smartphones have been problematic is because of the hinge that they advertise. In order for the phone to fold, manufacturers and designers often skimp on other aspects of the phone. However, the Find N2 Flip miniaturised the hinge system of the phone, allowing full-size components, like batteries, to remain uncompromised. This was only made possible by OPPO’s most advanced hinge to date – the New Generation Flexion Hinge.
The key bearing points of the New Generation Flexion Hinge are made of high-strength aerospace steel, which guarantees greater reliability; data from the OPPO Lab shows that it has a tensile strength of up to 15% and a yield strength of up to 25%. Simultaneously, the aircraft-grade carbon-fibre reinforced polymer also ensures that the hinge is robust but lightweight
This unique hinge is made of fewer parts, creating a simpler and sleeker design while providing more functionality than standard flip smartphones. The flexible, precision-etched stainless steel can also assist the new camera system and ¼ spindle assembly, allowing the Find N2 Flip to hold 45° and 110° angles.
Unprecedented Durability
The biggest problem with flip smartphones is that the hinge causes an ugly wrinkle to develop over time with repeated use. However, this is not a problem with the New Generation Flexion Hinge, which guides the screen to form a water drop shape. Unlike the traditional U-shaped bend, the water drop shape has a larger bending radius, resulting in a much lighter crease and decreasing screen deformation while reducing overall visual and tactile disruption.
This massive overhaul, however, does not forego the phone’s durability. The lab test conducted by TÜV Rhineland concluded that the Find N2 Flip can withstand 400,000 folds, which is equivalent to opening the phone 100 times per day for ten years. Furthermore, it has been tested under extreme conditions, working perfectly after being folded and unfolded 100,000 times at both -20ºC and 50ºC.
Also, because of its no-gap design, it creates a physical barrier for the Find N2 Flip against dust and debris. Alongside being able to resist a bombardment of fine powder, it can also keep particles out better than other folding phones with hinge gaps. This means the Find N2 Flip’s display will look just as dust-free as it did when you closed it.
All of this was achieved thanks to OPPO’s revolutionary New Generation Flexion Hinge.
