LG Malaysia today has announced the local rollout of the Eclair soundbar, its most compact model to date. Despite its size, the brand promises that the new product is able to deliver powerful audio performance with “exceptional detail and spatiality.” Prior to this, LG initially launched the device for certain markets such as the US and Europe back in July of last year.
Based on the specifications provided, the LG Eclair is indeed small – coming in at only 296 x 59.9 x 126 mm, which the company says is one-third the width of its previously smallest Atmos soundbar, the SP8YA. The newer model also features an elegant rounded rectangular design, along with jersey fabric surrounding its body. Needless to say, fans of the minimalist aesthetic will certainly appreciate the compact soundbar’s looks.
The Eclair’s 3.1.2 channel system produces a combined output of 320 W, provided by two 20 W upwards firing speakers, two 20 W front firing, single 20 W in its centre, and the remaining 220 W coming from its accompanying wireless subwoofer. Speaking of the latter, the compact soundbar ironically comes with a massive 389 x 291 x 185 mm subwoofer, which also sports a similar aesthetic as its companion – just more larger and taller.
It also uses fewer cables, with the only connectors available are the HDMI In and Out ports, a single USB-A, Optical In, as well as DC IN terminals that are found on both the Eclair and its speakers. Users may choose to connect the soundbar to their TVs either through HDMI or wirelessly via Bluetooth. The latter also works when pairing together with a compatible device, such as a smartphone.
Features-wise, onboard the LG Eclair are various audio enhancements including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Meridian Audio’s Horizon technology that up-mixes its two channel stereo content into immersive, multi-channel audio for a wider soundstage and immersive listening experience. Additionally, it comes with a Sound Mode Share function which intelligently links it to a compatible LG TV for accurate audio output, and also the brand’s Sound-Field Expander feature that is claimed to widen the device’s sound beyond its immediate area.
The all-new LG Eclair is available for RM 2,799 and while you may notice the white version in the video above, it is currently available in Malaysia only in black for now. Those interested can purchase the compact soundbar via the brand’s official website, or from Harvey Norman’s online store and physical outlets across the nation.
