Moonton, the publisher of MOBA title Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, has announced the launch of the 11th season of Mobile Legends Professional League Malaysia, or MPL MY. The first games of the league itself starts on 10 March, but with a couple of changes to the tournament format.
As announced by the league organisers, Season 11 of MPL MY will be changing from a two-group split of five teams into a single group of 10. This will mean that every team will have a chance to face every other team in a best-of-three match. This change also means that the number of matches in a week will be going down from eight to six, with 45 matches in total. That being said, there will still be six weeks of games to go through before the finals.
Speaking of which, as mentioned earlier, the first games of MPL MY Season 11 starts on 10 to 12 March, with more games taking place every week.As for the final week, this will happen on 27 April following a two week break after week six. For their physical venue, the games will take place at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara. Tickets go on sale on Friday the week before, for RM10. Early bird prices are no longer a thing, so there’s no need to rush to get them. MPL MY is also partnering with AirAsia Ride for transportation to the stadium, with vouchers for regular and first time users alike.
These changes were made after considering fan feedback, following what was described as a poor showing by the national teams in the previous season. Though it remains to be seen if these changes will have any direct impact on what fans wanted changed. This is especially after a recent controversial team change, with Orange Esports withdrawing from the league and Team Secret taking their spot.
