OnePlus launched its latest high-end earbuds yesterday, the Buds Pro 2, alongside the OnePlus 11, its new flagship smartphone. The device offers many features found in other premium earbuds such as the AirPods Pro at a relatively lower price, complete with an impressive battery life and a collaboration with Danish audio maker Dynaudio for sound tuning.
The Buds Pro 2 feature a two-tone unibody design with a combination of matte and glossy, available in black and green to match the OnePlus 11. They come with 11mm dynamic drivers and 6mm planar diaphragm drivers with support for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, alongside three microphones on each bud for voice pickup and noise cancelling.
Being in the premium price range, the Buds Pro 2 are equipped with improved adaptive noise cancellation that have been upgraded to be able to tune out up to 48db of noise, up from its predecessor’s 40db cap. For Bluetooth connections, they support AAC, SBC, LC3, and LHDC 4.0 codecs at launch, but a software update will also bring support for LHDC 5.0 in a few months, although the brand did not give a definitive rollout date.
The earbuds also include features such as a 54ms low latency mode for gaming, Dual Connection which allows them to be connected to two devices at the same time, Google Fast Pair, and a Neck Health feature that will be coming in a future update. OnePlus also says that they are rated with IP55 dust and water resistance so you won’t have to worry about sweating while using them.
The battery life of the Buds Pro 2 have seen only a slight improvement from the previous generation, going from a total of 38 hours of listening time to 39 hours, but that should still get you through multiple days just fine. On a single charge, the buds can last up to nine hours and as for charging, the case supports both wired and wireless charging.
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are priced at RM869 and are available for pre-order on 16 February. However, you can get a RM200 discount if you purchase it together with the OnePlus 11 until 3 March or if you pre-order it together with the OnePlus 11 between 16 to 24 February, you can get the premium earbuds for free.
