First unveiled at CES 2023, ASUS has announced that the Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook Pro 14 OLED will be making their way to our shores soon. The company also gave us a quick look at the two laptop models which, at least on the outside, are pretty similar.
Starting with the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED, probably the first thing that one would notice with this is the fancy top lid. Rather than the usual aluminium alloy, the company went and gave it what’s known as the Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation treatment. This gives it a certain ceramic-like feel to the material, which also gives it a very distinct look while also making it more fingerprint resistant. Though this material is limited to only the top lid, and the company says that it’s also limited to the Sandstone beige colourway.
Underneath the top lid is the 16:10 aspect ratio screen, which seems to be the new trend in laptop display these days. This means that rather than measuring 14 inches across, the actual measurement is 14.5 inches. That being said, you’re still getting a 2.8K resolution 120Hz refresh rate OLED touch screen, which is pretty fancy.
On the inside, it can pack up to an Intel Core i9-13900H processor and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, as well as up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. It comes with a 70Wh battery which can be charged via USB-C in addition to the charging cable that comes in the box. All this comes packed in a body that weighs 1.5kg.
For the ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED, the company has given it a more mundane top lid, with basically the same display. But on the inside, we’re looking at upgrades almost across the board. While the best processor that it can equip is the same Intel Core i9-13900H, the GPU range gets pushed up all the way to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070. Maximum storage is also doubled up to 2TB, while packing a slightly larger 76Wh battery. All this results in a slight weight increase, at 1.65kg.
For now, ASUS Malaysia has no details to share as to what the local configurations are or their corresponding prices. But a representative says that these will appear on shelves by the end of the month. This would be around the same time as the ROG Zephyrus M16 models.
