(UPDATE: 13 February 2023, 5:00pm) Maybank, through a series of replies on Twitter and Facebook, has confirmed that the issues reported in this article has been fully resolved as of around 4:30 pm on 13 February 2023. However, the bank has yet to reveal the cause of the problems experienced with its services.
Users should be able to log in to the MAE app, as well as use the bank’s online payment/transfer and Secure2u authorisation system normally. Nevertheless, Maybank is advising its customers to report to it directly through its social media channels should the issue persist.

It’s been revealed by numerous Maybank users via social media that certain services offered by the bank appears to be non-functional. At the time of writing, we can confirm that its MAE app is currently inaccessible, though it’s still possible to log in to both the Maybank2u app and website.
After several hours of keeping quiet regarding the matter, Maybank has officially confirmed via a reply on Facebook that it is indeed experiencing an issue with its MAE app. “Kindly be informed that we are experiencing intermittent service interruptions for MAE by Maybank2u & Maybank2u MY App at the moment,” the bank wrote. “However, our Maybank2u full website is working fine at the moment. Alternatively, please visit the full Maybank2u website to continue your banking transactions.”
Despite advising customers to rely on its online platforms, the bank noted it is currently experiencing technical difficulties with its Secure2u authorisation system on both its MAE and Maybank2u app. As an alternative, Maybank recommends to temporarily rely on SMS TAC validation instead.
However, this solution might not work for everyone, as some users have pointed out on social media that the SMS approach has not been working either. Maybank itself has yet to respond to this particular complaint.
“Rest assured, we [are] working closely to rectify this issue and it will be back to normal soon,” it added in the earlier reply. The bank did not provide a time on when the problem is expected to be resolved. For now, we highly advise Maybank users to not rely on its online banking, payment, or transfer services via Maybank2u or MAE until the matter has been dealt with.
