OnePlus has officially revealed the second variant of its current generation flagship line-up, the OnePlus 11R 5G, via its official page on Amazon India. As you may recall, a vague teaser of the phone was shared by the company last week, though not much else about it was revealed.
Based on new images shared on the e-commerce platform, the OnePlus 11R 5G is shown to sport the same design as the high-end variant – almost making both devices hard to distinguish from one another. However, what really sets them apart is their internal hardware, where the second variant is revealed to feature a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip instead of the more current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship that’s equipped on the OnePlus 11 5G.
This basically makes this particular variant equivalent to the standard release from OnePlus’ old naming convention, while its sibling fills the role of past Pro models. Undeniably, this new branding approach will most likely throw off existing OnePlus fans, but it’s definitely something to get accustomed to moving forward. To further complicate matters, the same phone was only recently introduced in China as the OnePlus Ace 2.
The entry-level variant is also confirmed to feature an LTPS LCD display with variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, as well as a 5,000 mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC support. According to the company, the fast charging feature on the handset is capable of topping up the phone’s battery capacity to full in just 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, another noticeable difference is the lack of Hasselblad branding on the rear imaging system on the OnePlus 11R 5G, which suggests it may not come with enhancements or features from the Swedish camera maker. On that note, OnePlus has not disclosed the specifications of the phone’s triple camera system at this time, though unofficial sources claim that it could be equipped with a Sony 50 MP sensor for its primary shooter.
The company is expected to fully announce the OnePlus 11R 5G alongside the series’ hero model, Buds Pro 2, and the OnePlus Pad during its Cloud11 launch event next week on 7 February 2023. Naturally, complete specifications, pricing, and availability for all upcoming products will only be revealed by then.
