OPPO Malaysia has announced that its latest midranger, the Reno8 T 5G, will be arriving to the local market soon. In fact, the launch is expected to be held next week on 7 February 2023, according to a teaser graphic shared on the brand’s official website.
Apart from the event’s date, OPPO has also provided a first-look at the design of the Reno8 T 5G, as well as highlighting some of its key features. From the teaser, the phone is shown to feature a curved display with a top-centred cutout for its front-facing camera, while on its back is a metallic panel with a rounded rectangular island that houses its triple camera setup. Clearly, this design differs from what was revealed from a leak which we covered two weeks ago, but apparently there’s a reason for this.
According to OPPO Philippines, the earlier renders actually depict the 4G variant of the Reno8 T series. As we noted in our previous report, this particular model bears a strong resemblance to another mid-range phone from the brand, the recently launched OPPO A78 5G, but with a punch-hole cutout display. It is also shown to feature a leather-like material for its rear panel, though it is possible that regular options may be available. In addition, it is expected that the 4G variant could come with different specifications than its sibling.
Speaking of which, OPPO has confirmed that the Reno8 T 5G will come equipped with a 120 Hz 3D curved screen, and a 108 MP primary shooter as part of its triple camera setup. Additionally, it will also have a 4,800 mAh battery with 67 W fast charging capability, which the company claims is capable of providing 9 hours of video streaming with just 15 minutes worth of charge.
Unfortunately, other details such as its onboard chipset, memory configuration, as well as pricing and availability are still not known at this time. Seeing that the 4G model is not included in the teaser, it is unclear whether OPPO plans to launch it together with the high-end variant, or at a much later date.
