Galax, the custom GPU brand and long-time AIB partner of NVIDIA, may have let the cat out of the bag on the latter’s GeForce RTX 4070 and more specifically, its packaging. The designs were online for more than a week and oddly enough, show both the markings for the Ti and non-Ti cards.
What we mean by that is that Galax’s packaging designs show the RTX 4070 logo prominently displayed at the front of the box, while the RTX 4070 Ti markings are also clear on the sides. For another matter, the markings are only being applied to the brand’s Ex Gamer White and SG White Editions of the cards. As pointed out by Videocardz, the mismatching of the markings are almost certainly mistakes made by its graphics designer and these mistakes have remained consistent by the brand over the past several weeks.
It’s no secret that the RTX 4070 shares the same GPU as its more powerful Ti brethren, which is the AD104. Formed from the same ADA Lovelace architecture, information about the graphics card’s specs, performance, and price are still up in the air. For context, the RTX 4070 Ti has 7680 CUDA cores, 80 ROPs, 12GDDR6X, and a 285W TDP. Oh, and while NVIDIA did not release a Founders Edition (FE) of the card, rumours have been flying around that the GPU brand may return to form by offering one with its reference cooling.
In the case of the Galax and its custom RTX 4070 designs, it almost seems like a certainty that both cards in the renders will sport the same triple-fan cooling design, just as it has done with previous GPU models and generations.
In the meantime, you can check out our in-depth review of the RTX 4070 Ti which officially announced during CES 2023 and how it holds up against NVIDIA’s previous generation Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3090. If only to provide some insight as to what one could expect from the non-Ti version of the card.
