Alongside the next generation ultra-wide Odyssey monitors announced for CES 2023, Samsung also unveiled the new ViewFinity S9 S90PC display. The product is professional-oriented and is also the first from the brand to feature a 5K high resolution panel, which makes it a close competitor to Apple’s Studio Display monitor.
More specifically, the ViewFinity S9 comes with a 27-inch screen with Matte Display, limiting light reflection and glare in order to minimise distractions while working. As mentioned earlier, it is capable of outputting 5K resolution at 5120 x 2880 pixels, with a wide colour gamut of 99% DCI-P3 that is promised to provide crisp, true-to-form details, as well as clear and precise colour representation.
In terms of features, it includes a built-in Color Calibration Engine, which offers precise colour and brightness. Additionally, Samsung says users can also further adjust the monitor’s white balance, gamma, RGB colour balance to match with their smartphones through the Samsung Smart Calibration mobile application. Connectivity-wise, it is revealed that the ViewFinity S9 comes with USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections to easily transfer large files, but the exact amount of ports are unspecified for now.
The display has a tiny 4K SlimFit web camera that is situated on top of the display that supports native video conferencing through apps such as Google Meet that are included in the pre-installed Samsung Smart Hub platform. Lastly, the product also features a built-in stand with adjustable height and tilt, which enables the screen to be oriented in a vertical position.
Besides that, Samsung also introduced a new 27-inch variant of its Smart Monitor M8, which initially debuted with a 32-inch model back in March of last year. Apart from featuring a smaller display size, the product is basically the same as its sibling in terms of image output and built-in features.
Much like the two Odyssey ultra-wide monitors from earlier, both the new ViewFinity S9 and the Smart Monitor M8 will only be fully unveiled during the CES 2023 event that’s happening on 5th January. In that regard, detailed specifications, pricing, and availability for all of these upcoming Samsung displays will only be made known around that time.
