Despite the stock shortage, Touch n Go is rolling out another special variant of the NFC-enabled Enhanced TNG card. This time around, the card is being released to support one of the company’s recent CSR programs called Mission GreenPossible.
Announced back in late October, the Mission GreenPossible was established through a collaboration with Yayasan Hijau Malaysia in order to help the foundation plant more trees throughout the country. In general, the program aims to help accelerate the government’s target of planting 100 million trees by the year 2025 under the Greening Malaysia Agenda.
TNG’s official website noted that the foundation has so far planted 48 million trees across Malaysia up to 21 November 2022. In the existing implementation of Mission GreenPossible, a batch of trees will be planted in real life every time the TNG’s virtual tree height reaches 100%.
The tree’s growth level is currently being fueled by the Mission GreenPossible donation drive inside the TNG eWallet app. At the time this article is published, the virtual tree’s current height is 41%:
As noted by the card’s listing on the TNG eWallet official store on Lazada, RM1 from every purchase of the card would go to Mission GreenPossible. Since the card is priced at RM25 each, that means only 4% of the proceeds from the card’s sale would benefit the national-level tree planting program which frankly speaking, seems rather minuscule in the grand sense of things.
Hence, you may want to just donate directly to the program through the TNG eWallet app unless you really need or want the Enhanced TNG card. This is because 100% of all donations for Mission GreenPossible performed through the app would go directly to Yayasan Hijau Malaysia and by doing that, you can also request tax exemption receipts directly from the foundation.
Meanwhile, the Mission GreenPossible is the fourth official variant of the Enhanced TNG card after the original version was released back in April. It was then followed by the United Voice edition in September and HONOR 70 5G Icelandic Frost version the following month.
Let’s not forget, there was also the TNG Charm Christmas Edition as well that was launched earlier this month. Together with the official launch of TNG RFID Fuelling with Shell back in August as well as the gradual, unannounced rollout of its new Visa Card, it looked like the second half of 2022 was a rather busy period for TNG.
