AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 series GPUs are beginning to make their rounds to reviewers around the world, so it should come as no surprise that some test data and details will begin making their way online. Sure enough, some reviewer in possession of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX has posted the GPU’s Geekbench performance on the benchmark’s page.
According to the Geekbench page, the 7900 XTX was paired with a Ryzen 7 7700X, which is AMD’s 8-core Zen 4 processor, along with an ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard. Additionally, the system was also running on 32GG DDR5 RAM, presumably at 6000MT/s, given its 3000MB/s listing in the information box.

To quickly recap, the RX 7900 XTX was launched alongside the 7900 XT back in November. Based on the new RDNA3 GPU architecture, the card houses 24GB of GDDR6 graphics memory, running across a 384-bit memory bus. It also comes with 96 CUs, while its boost clockspeed can reach 2.3GHz. It also has a TDP of 355W.
Getting back to its performance, the 7900 XTX was tested with Geekbench’s Compute tests with OpenCL and Vulkan APIs. Compared to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4080, the card AMD has openly claimed to be the direct competitor to its top-end GPU, the card performed relatively worse on the OpenCL test, by around 14%. In the Vulkan API test, however, it overtook team green’s powerhouse by an average of 15%, which is good news but again, this is just a Geekbench test and it doesn’t actually reflect on its real-world performance.
In any case, we’ll have no choice but to wait until 13 December to see if the 7900 XTX’s performance will be just as potent when it is put to test in its element: gaming. Of course, if the card is already out making its rounds to reviewers, then it is likely that their respective reviews will be out by at least a day before AMD’s official launch.
