Beam Mobility is now offering a 15% discount on all of its e-scooter rides starting today on 14 November until 20 November 2022. Its timely arrival during election week is part of the micro-mobility operator’s aim to help Malaysians perform their civic duties for the 15th general election (GE15) that’s happening this Saturday on 19 November.
Unlike its Merdeka campaign from a couple of months back, Beam says the discount applies to all e-scooter rides regardless of time, provided that they are booked within the promotional period. In addition, an extra RM1.50 off will also be granted to those who end their trips at designated parking spots at polling stations. The company is encouraging Malaysians to use its service as a first and last-mile option, especially if they’re relying on public transport to get to their respective constituencies and back.
For those who’ve never used the service and are planning to give it a go, Beam e-scooters can be found at certain popular locations, as well as public transport hubs including LRT, MRT and monorail stations in the Klang Valley. They are also easily identifiable thanks to their bright purple colour scheme, and are often parked in a row at these aforementioned locations.
To use the micro-mobility service, download the Beam app to your mobile phone via Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once installed, book an available e-scooter at the location by scanning its QR code, and then tap the “GO” button on the app to initiate. Of course, you’re also required to create an account and register a preferred payment method in the process, as well as ensure that your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled throughout your rental of Beam’s micro-mobility vehicle. For more information, visit the FAQ page on the service provider’s official website.
Aside from Beam Mobility, other services such as Malaysia Airlines and its subsidiary Firefly are also offering discounts for GE15, while Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is providing additional ETS services as well as a special train to the East Coast from 18 to 20 November. Another one worth mentioning is MySPR Semak’s website and mobile app, which you can utilise to conveniently check your voter status and also determine the location of your designated polling station.
