You may have seen both the official Pokemon and Puma social media accounts teasing an upcoming collaboration between the two brands. The companies have since announced that a new collection featuring the largest entertainment franchise ever will be available in Malaysia pretty soon. And it looks to be a pretty wide range, with tops and bottoms in addition to the usual footwear.
With that being said, considering the brand, footwear is no doubt still the primary focus of this Puma x Pokemon collab. As is pretty common, this stars the three original starter pocket monsters Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, as well as the brand’s mascot mouse Pikachu.
Of these, the fire and water starters get to be special editions of their own line of products, with Charmander and Squirtle representing the Slipstream and Suede lines, respectively. Bulbasaur and Pikachu, on the other hand, share the Rider FV line. Notably missing from the lineup that’s coming to our shores though is the Gengar, which would have been part of the TRC Blaze Court line of basketball shoes.
As for the rest of the accompanying apparel, you have a range of items like sherpa jackets, sweatpants, T-shirts, relaxed crews and hoodies. If all of this sounds quite familiar, this is because Puma had a similar collaboration like this done last year, with another Nintendo IP, Animal Crossing. At the time, the collaboration also featured a similar range of footwear and apparel.
Like last year, Puma Malaysia tells us that this Pokemon collection will have retail prices ranging from RM129 to RM649. These will also be available starting 12 November. They will also only be available from selected PUMA stores at KLCC, Pavilion KL, Sunway Pyramid, Queensbay Mall, Mid Valley, Tropicana Garden, I-City, Paradigm JB, Genting Sky Avenue, Atmos KL, SoleWhat and JD Sports. Notably, they won’t be available for purchase online.
