Rapid KL today announced that stations under the Kelana Jaya line LRT that are located between Ampang Park and Kelana Jaya are temporarily closed starting today until Tuesday next week, on 15 November 2022. As you may recall, the public transport operator had previously ceased train operations along the same route yesterday evening due to a technical issue. Given the closure of the aforementioned stations, it is apparent that the issue has yet to be resolved.
Via a recent statement published on its website, Rapid KL confirmed that the cause for this major disruption is yet again related to an issue with the LRT service’s automatic driving system, which is causing a signal loss between the control center and the train. This resulted in the latter not being able to operate automatically between the Ampang Park and Kelana Jaya stations.
Based on its announcement on Twitter, a total of 16 stations have been closed in order to resolve the issue throughout the duration. These include the Ampang Park, KLCC, Kampung Baru, Dang Wangi, Masjid Jamek, Pasar Seni, KL Sentral, Bangsar, Abdullah Hukum, Kerinchi, Universiti, Taman Jaya, Asia Jaya, Taman Paramount, Taman Bahagia, and Kelana Jaya stations.

Despite this, the public transport operator notes that trains carrying passengers between the Gombak and Damai stations as well as between the Putra Heights and Lembah Subang stations on the Kelana Jaya line will still operate from 6 am, but will cease earlier at 11 pm daily to give way to maintenance crews. Unfortunately, those needing to get to areas located within the closed stations mentioned earlier are required to seek alternative modes of transportation in order to get to their respective destinations.

To compensate for this inconvenience, Rapid KL is offering LRT users with free bus services that connect along the affected stations. These will be non-stop with a frequency of 15 to 20 minutes, and will travel back and forth between Ara Damansara to Pasar Seni, Ara Damansara to Kelana Jaya, Kelana Jaya to Pasar Seni, Pasar Seni to Masjid Jamek, and Masjid Jamek to Damai. Currently, a total a 69 buses have been deployed for this purpose, with numbers expected to increase up to 80 later on.
