Smartphone brand Tecno Mobile has confirmed via its official Malaysian Facebook page that its latest mid-range device, the Pova 4, will eventually see a local launch. The phone is expected to come with a MediaTek chip, a large battery capacity, dual camera setup, and an eye-fetching rear panel design. There’s also a Pro variant, but it is still not clear whether we’ll be getting that model as well.
Based on its release in other markets, the Tecno Pova 4 will feature a large 6.82-inch display with an IPS panel, 720 x 1600 pixel resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 90 Hz refresh rate. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port that are located at the bottom. In terms of colour selection, the phone is offered in either Cryolite Blue or Uranolith Grey.
Internally, equipped on the midranger is an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, along with a Mali G52 MC2 GPU. Tecno Malaysia confirms that the phone will be offered in a single memory configuration consisting 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Powering it is a 6,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging capability, which is actually smaller when compared to its predecessor’s 7,000 mAh capacity. Meanwhile, managing all things software is the brand’s HIOS platform that is based on Android 12.
For its imaging capabilities, featured on the attractive rear panel of the Pova 4 is a dual camera setup consisting of a 50 MP primary shooter and an unspecified sensor, which is likely for macro or depth. Housed within the top-centred cutout on the phone’s display, on the other hand, is a 8 MP front-facing camera.
As mentioned earlier, the Tecno Pova 4 also has a Pro model. Even though it shares the same design as its sibling, this variant comes with a slightly smaller display. However, it instead features an AMOLED panel with a higher resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and 90 Hz refresh rate. While the Pova 4 Pro does come with the same 6,000 mAh battery capacity, it supports a faster 45 W charging speed instead. And that’s about it, as the rest of the phone is no different from the vanilla model.
Whether or not Tecno Mobile plans to debut both models in Malaysia remains to be seen. On that note, the company did not provide a specific date for the Pova 4’s Malaysian launch just yet, but promises that the device “is coming soon.” For your reference, Techno’s latest midrange smartphone launched in Bangladesh at a retail price of BDT 21,990 (~RM 1,026) for the standard model, and BDT 26,900 (~RM 1,255) for the Pro.
