As a product line, the ThinkPad has quite the history. Having started 30 years ago, it was still a product of IBM, before the product line was acquired by Lenovo in 2005. To celebrate this, the company has a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 30th Anniversary Edition that is now available for pre-order.
The markings of this limited edition model don’t exactly stand out, which fits the image of the ThinkPad line. For the most part, only three elements indicate that this is a special model of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon bunch. For one, you get the second word in the portmanteau sporting literal RGB colours. Then there’s the 30th Anniversary Edition marking at the lower left corner of the keyboard. And finally, the right hinge cap sports a commemorative serial number.
Beyond the special anniversary bling, the Lenovo ThnkPad X1 Carbon 30th Anniversary Edition comes with an Intel Core i7-1260P processor, 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 1TB of M2 PCIe 4 SSD storage, a 14-inch 2880 x 1800 OLED display, and a 4-cell 57Wh battery. You also get a backlit keyboard, an RGB Full HD camera, and the usual fingerprint scanner. In short, it’s also a very souped-up version of the average ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop.
With top end parts and limited edition furnish comes a fittingly steep price. The Lenovo ThnkPad X1 Carbon 30th Anniversary Edition comes with an asking price of RM13359. And considering it is a limited edition model, there are only 40 of these being allocated for the Malaysian market. You also cannot immediately purchase one, as it is only available for pre-order, until 30 November 2022. And among those that do, the first 20 will also be getting a special laptop sleeve and a ThinkPad X1 mouse. If you intend to place your pre-order, you can do so by hitting the link below.
