Electronic Arts was supposed to have a Need for Speed reveal soon. But before the publisher could do it, leaks of the upcoming arcade racer have already crossed the internet line. The leak even revealed its full name – Need for Speed Unbound.
As PC Gamer reports, the leaks first showed up on Japanese site Neowing. The original post is already gone, but the report included a translated description of the game. Which sounds like the string of words that you’d expect from a Need for Speed game. There are lines like “beat the clock, outsmart the cops, and compete in weekly qualifiers”, and “fill your garage with precision-tuned custom machines”.
The visuals of Need for Speed Unbound is described as “bringing graffiti to life”. That, plus some of the neon in the screenshots, brings back Underground, Most Wanted and Carbon vibes. Adding to the description of the soundtrach, which will “embody the underground culture” and you get the picture. On Reddit, there’s also the slightly fascinating fanfare celebrating the return of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, for some reason. And visuals aside, both Criterion and Codemasters are on board, so gameplay should not be an issue.

Beyond the leaks, there’s even a confirmation of sorts, with an image of Need for Speed Unbound being found in EA’s own website. This comes courtesy of Twitter user Wario64, who frequently tweets about the video game industry.
I mentioned the official reveal for the Need for Speed Unbound earlier. It’s scheduled to happen at 11PM local time on the official Need for Speed YouTube channel, which you can check out if you’re interested. As for the release date, the now unavailable listing had a 2 December date. But EA may or may not confirm that date later during the official reveal.
