Sony, via its official PlayStation blog, has recently unveiled the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games line-up for the month of October. This time around, subscribers under the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers are offered with three newly added games: Hot Wheels Unleashed, Injustice 2, and the stylish first-person shooter (FPS) Superhot.
The first title included in next month’s free PlayStation Plus games is arcade racer Hot Wheels Unleashed, which is based on the popular miniature vehicle models by American toy company Mattel. Originally released in September of last year, the game lets you collect, build and race miniature cars, as well as create your own race tracks which can be played locally or shared online for other players to try.
Hot Wheels Unleashed can be played solo, two-player split screen, or up to 12 players via online multiplayer. Outside of this promotion, the game is priced at RM 209 on PlayStation Store.
The second title is the Injustice 2 fighting game, which was originally released back in 2017 and is developed by Mortal Kombat creator NetherRealm Studios, in collaboration with comic book giant DC. Set in a universe unique to the game, featured are alternate versions of beloved superheroes and villains such as Batman, Superman, Darkseid, Black Adam, Harley Quinn, Supergirl and so on. It also features a single-player campaign, local and multiplayer versus modes, and also a character customisation mode that can modify a superhero or villain’s appearance and stats.
Keep note that offered as part of next month’s PlayStation Plus line-up is the base version of Injustice 2, which does not come with DLC additions such as special guest characters (Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero and Raiden, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Hellboy). Currently, the game is available for RM 78 for the standard version, and RM 254 for the all-inclusive Legendary Edition.
Last on the list is the indie-developed smash hit Superhot from 2016, though be aware that the one offered for next month is the non-VR version of the game. Unlike typical FPS games, this particular title features a unique mechanic where time only moves when you do. This allows you to plan out your next move in order to stay ahead of enemies, as one wrong move means instant death. Successfully completing a level will reward you with a real-time replay of your actions.
Strangely enough, Superhot is not available in the Malaysian region of the PlayStation Store. For the US market, the game is priced at US 24.99 (~RM 115) for both the standard and VR versions.
All three games will be available to claim for PlayStation Plus subscribers from 4 October 2022 onwards. In the meantime, those who’ve not added this month’s free games (Need For Speed Heat, Grandblue Fantasy: Versus, and Toem) are encouraged to do so before the new batch arrives.
