OPPO Malaysia today has launched a new entry-level device to its A-series of smartphones. Known as the OPPO A17, this particular model hosts a variety of premium-like hardware, features, and design at an affordable price range.
Most interesting is the phone’s rear panel, which has a leather-like texture – something that is usually featured on high-end models. This is complemented by two circular camera islands arranged vertically, further adding to its clean and minimalist design. Other than that, the phone is offered in Midnight Black and Lake Blue colour options, and also features a water resistance rating of IPX4.
In front, the new OPPO A17 is equipped with a notched 6.56-inch display which has a HD+ resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The device itself measures at 164.2 x 75.6 x 8.3 mm in dimensions and weighs in at about 189 g. It also features a dual SIM slot, and is running on Android 12 out of the box via the brand’s ColorOS 12.11 platform.
Under the hood, OPPO’s latest entry-level smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, paired together with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Like most entry to mid-range phones in the market, it also comes with a RAM extender feature which can convert storage memory up to an additional 4GB of RAM. In terms of battery, the A17 is equipped with a capacity of 5,000 mAh, though there’s no mention of any onboard fast charging support.
On the imaging side of things, found on the back of the phone is a 50 MP primary camera, along with an unspecified depth sensor. Situated within the notch on its display, on the other hand, is a 5MP selfie camera.
The all-new OPPO A17 is available now at a recommended price of RM 599 for its single configuration. Those interested may order it through the brand’s physical stores, online store, authorised resellers, as well as its official online stores on Shopee and Lazada.
