ASUS has launched a new convertible tablet dubbed the ExpertBook B3 Detachable. What made the new product rather intriguing is not only that it has convertible form factor but also the fact that it is a Windows-on-ARM device.
As you can guess from the name, it comes with a detachable keyboard and a garaged stylus — there is a dedicated compartment to slot in the stylus so it doesn’t have to magnetically stick on the side like many other tablets. The ExpertBook B3 Detachable sports a 10.5-inch 1920×1200 LCD touch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a peak brightness of 320 nits.
Advertising it as “student-centred”, the tablet is spill-resistant up to 60cc, rated with US MIL-STD 810H Military grade durability, equipped with an antibacterial guard on the keyboard, and comes with a dual-orientation stand cover. The convertible runs on Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 ARM-based chipset, along with 128GB of eMMC storage and up to 8GB of RAM.
The Windows 11 Pro detachable also has support for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and come with two speakers paired with multi-array microphones. There are also 5MP and 13MP cameras on the front and back respectively, complete with AI noise cancellation and 3D noise-reduction for better video calls.
The I/O implementation is a bit lacklustre though as ASUS equipped the tablet with only a single USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack, with no Type-A port or microSD card slot in sight. Powering the tablet is a 38Wh battery that is advertised for up to 21 hours of battery life and charges with a 45W charger.
As for the stylus, ASUS claims that a 15-second charge can give it an additional 45 minutes of use. Both the stylus and the stand cover are optional add-ons although some dealers may offer them as free gifts or as part of a bundle.
The page of the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Detachable on ASUS Malaysia’s website lists it at RM2,099 inclusive of 4GB of RAM and a stylus. At the time this article is published, it seemed that the 8GB variant has yet to make its way here though as we are only able to locate the 4GB variant through various ASUS dealers on Lazada and Shopee such as ITCOMP and Notebook Plaza.
