GoPro has announced that it will hold a launch tomorrow on 14 September 2022. Based on the accompanying teaser image (shown above), the company will officially debut the new Hero11 Black and Hero11 Mini, both of which were previously leaked by leakster Roland Quandt of Winfuture last week.
To recap, the upcoming Hero11 Black is revealed to share the same design as its predecessor, complete with a 1.4-inch LCD screen up front and a 2.27-inch LCD touchscreen on its back. Specs-wise, Quandt says the action camera will be equipped with the same GP2 processor from last year but features a new 27 MP image sensor with a lens that provides an even wider field-of-view. This allows it to record videos at 5.3K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps), 4K at 120 fps, and snap photos at 24.7 MP resolution.
In terms of features, the device is said to come with GoPro’s signature HyperSmooth 5.0 electronic stabilisation technology, voice activated controls, and much more. Besides that, the Hero11 Black will use the same 1,720 mAh removable battery as its predecessor, which would offer 2.5 hours of continuous video recording.
Meanwhile, Quandt says that the GoPro Hero11 Mini will mostly come with similar hardware as its larger sibling, including the same GP2 processor, 27 MP sensor and 1,720 mAh battery. However, this particular model is designed to lack any displays in favour of a more compact design, though it is still significantly larger than the Hero5 Session from 2016. For comparison, the newer model is said to measure at 71.8 x 50.8 x 33.6 mm, while the latter comes in at 38 x 38 x 38 mm.
GoPro’s launch event is slated to take place tomorrow at 9 pm local time and will be live streamed via its official channel on YouTube. Additionally, word has it that the Malaysian launch is also expected to happen sometime soon, though the company has not officially confirmed this.
