If you’re a short video aficionado, then you’re probably also a frequent user of TikTok, And if you are, then by now, you are probably aware that TikTok Shop is a thing. If so, it may or may not benefit you to know that the company doing the deliveries is Ninja Van, at least in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
For those who are not familiar, this is the way TikTok Shop works: While you binge short form videos on the app, you can sometimes be prompted to buy something off of the platform. These will appear through in-feed videos, dedicated livestreams set up by merchants, and a dedicated product showcase tab on their profile page on the app.
As TikTok has claimed before, this move is one that is aimed mainly at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The idea is to allow them to set up shop on the short video sharing platform rather than a physical brick-and-mortar store which may help reduce the initial investment costs as a result. On that front, nothing much, if any at all, has changed, according to the announcement. The only difference between then and now is the fact that Ninja Van has been named the official logistics partner.
TikTok Shop was officially announced to be available in Malaysia back in April of this year, with the platform opening registrations to sellers the month before. At the time we saw that buyers have two options when it comes to getting their goods delivered to them. One is Ship by Seller, where the seller determines which courier delivers the goods to the buyer. The other is Ship by TikTok, which has the platform’s logistics partner, which we now know to be Ninja Van, delivering the items from the seller to their customers.
