Rapid KL has announced a new offer which seems like another effort to tempt Klang Valley residents to ditch their cars for public transport. For a very limited time this month, the public service provider is offering two My50 passes for the price of one, but it comes with some caveats.
For one thing, you cannot obtain both passes for yourself. Instead, you can only get one pass while the other pass has to go to someone else. Moreover, both of you must be new users, meaning that neither of you has ever purchased the My50 pass up to this point.
If you meet these criteria, you and your buddy can sign up for the promotion through the MyRapid PULSE app, which is available for both Android and iOS. You must register both your details on the app and as with the norm for the My50 pass, you and your “buddy” have to be Malaysian citizens.
This promo is already open for registration as we speak and will last until 7 September. If your application is successful, you will then receive a confirmation email on 8 September.
To redeem the offer, both you and your buddy must come to the counter in KL Sentral’s LRT station or the Pasar Seni bus hub together with the printout of the confirmation voucher. Of course, please don’t forget to bring the MyKad as well.
In case you’re not familiar with it, Rapid KL’s My50 pass allows commuters to use any of its services in Klang Valley with a validity of 30 days. This includes any LRT, MRT, and Monorail routes as well as BRT and Rapid KL busses.
On a related note, Rapid KL has also announced that those who have the OKU card from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) can ride any of its public transport services for free from 31 August to 30 September. Not to forget, commuters can still sign up for the company’s free Hospital Protection Plan, which provides financial protection for three months in case of hospitalisation.
