Not too long ago, we saw what looks like a sequel or refresh of the Nothing ear (1). It was simply called the Nothing ear (1) STICK, but nothing much else is known about it, beyond what can be seen from the surface. If nothing else, we now also know that it has landed on our shores.
As Amanz reports, the Nothing ear (1) STICK has been found in the SIRIM database. This was a pretty recent thing too, judging from the 30 August approval date. This means an imminent announcement and launch, but beyond that fact, it’s anyone’s guess as to when it will actually happen.
On the surface, the one major difference between the STICK and the base model is the charging case. Rather than the original square-ish shape, this newer model has a slim rectangular shape to it instead. In some ways, this is reminiscent of a USB stick, or thumb drive if you prefer, which may explain the name somewhat. There’s also what looks like a removable cap on the right side of the case, further reinforcing the idea behind the name.
The Nothing ear (1) STICK themselves also look mostly the same compared to the model that came before, save for one key difference. And that is the fact that, based on the earlier leak, it looks like it lacks visible eartips. It’s unclear for now if this is a rendering error, or a sign of a design change, where the STICK doesn’t go all the way into your ear canal.
Needless to say, considering what we thought of the original Nothing ear (1), the STICK has a lot to live up to. This can be challenging if it will indeed sport a different design and not have eartips. But either way, with it showing up in the SIRIM database, it will hopefully not be too long before we find out for sure.
