ASUS has announced that the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED foldable laptop will soon be making its way to Malaysia. The new model, which is essentially the first certified Intel Evo foldable laptop in the market, was originally revealed back in January during CES 2022, but its actual availability was only revealed by the company at IFA 2022 this week.
The laptop features a PANTONE-validated OLED touch display with a 500 nits peak brightness, which is 12.5-inches in size with a 3:2 aspect ratio when folded and can be unfolded into a massive 4:3 17.3-inch tablet. The 180-degree hinge can survive at least 30,000 open & close cycles according to ASUS and allows the device to shift into six different modes for various uses.
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED runs on a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1250U processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage. As for connectivity, the laptop-tablet hybrid supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and while it has no fingerprint scanner, the 5MP webcam comes with an IR sensor for face unlock.
Peripheral-wise, ASUS equipped the unique device with only two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and an audio jack. On the other hand, it also has four speakers tuned by Harman Kardon with support for Dolby Atmos and are apparently driven by what the company calls a smart amplifier, which boosts the volume up to 3.5x.
If you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to use a virtual keyboard on their laptop, the device includes a full-size Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. The brand also fitted a 75Wh battery into the foldable and it comes with a 65W charger in the box.
According to ASUS, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will be available in Malaysia sometime in the fourth quarter of this year with a retail price of RM14,999. If you are eager to purchase it, you can sign up on ASUS Malaysia’s online store to be notified when it goes on sale.
